How is Strafford Nutrition Meals on Wheels program funded?
We have historically received funding from State and County as well as generous donations from family and loved ones.
What towns do you service?
We serve all of Strafford County. That is Barrington, Center Strafford, Dover, Durham, Farmington, Gonic, Lee, Madbury, Middleton, Milton, Milton Mills, New Durham, Rochester, Rollinsford, Somersworth, and Strafford.
What kinds of diets are available?
We offer a selective menu as well as a cardiac, diabetic, ground and puree diet.
What does a meal consist of?
A daily meal consist of a meal that meets 1/3 the daily nutritional requirements, a milk, bread, and dessert. Clients also have an option of either a tea bag, regular or decaf, or an instant decaf sanka coffee packet, and condiments.
How are meals delivered?
We have chosen to employ drivers rather than use volunteers. All our drivers have been run through a criminal background check and elder abuse check. We have found that having the same driver every day creates a more trusting relationship for our clients.
Do you deliver every day?
We serve and deliver meals Monday through Friday with the option of a frozen meal towards the weekend that are sent out on Thursday.
We are closed on all Federal Holidays: New Year's Day, Civil Rights Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
How do I or family member sign up for Meals on Wheels?
You can either call us at the main office to see if you qualify and set up a home visit or fill and mail out our application to us and we will contact you ASAP.
